League is Rolling
by Carole Davidson
Well, it's all set. In the fall of 1961 Mayfair High School will become an official member of the newly re-organized Suburban League.
The ball is really rolling and many organizational plans have been made and carried out.
Each school in the new league has sent $25.00 to Artesia High School to start a trust account for the league.
Athletic directors from each of the six schools in the league have met and a tentative schedule of athletic events has been drawn up.
Mayfair will engage in athletic participation with La Mirada, Artesia, La Serna, Sierra, and Pioneer.
As a result of the re-leaguing we will be much closer to our opponent schools and our athletic teams will be in competition with schools on their own level as to ability, experience, etc.
I feel that we will have a better chance in sports competition next fall if our teams continue to hustle and play at their best.
Most of you students will be glad to hear that the farthest school that we will be in competition with is Sierra High of South Whittier which is only a twenty minute drive in heavy traffic.

Swingin' Hop at the Gym
Future Business Leaders of America of Mayfair High School are sponsoring an after game sock hop, tonight, January 27. It is to be held in the M.H.S. gym.
The hop will be 10 cents with socks and Student Body cards. It will be 15 cents without socks and with A.S.B. cards, and 25 cents if you come empty handed.
The doors will open at about 9:30 and will close at 11:30. Refreshments will be on sale for those wanting them.
